GOLDEN
S OF CALIFORNIA
Our annual Halloween “transient gathering” went great, and we all had a lot of fun.
Our Wagon Masters were Bob and Donna and Chris Colson. We had nine rigs for this outing. The theme was to dress as a Hobo, Gypsy, or Trailer Trash.
While some of these ideas came more easily to some of us, traveling in RVs, I’m sure there were times when we all looked somewhat like all of the above.
The outing was held at the East Shore RV Park. This was also the start of the week for the RV show at the fairgrounds close to the park.
Most of the group arrived Wednesday; the last of us made it by Friday.
As our invitation stated, “you are invited to our campfire to experience pretty good food gathered along the way, some scavenged, a little road kill, but mostly stolen.”
We didn’t quit go that far, at least I think we didn’t. The food that was prepared by “Hobo Bob” was quite good. Everyone threw in the pot whatever they wanted to get rid of from their RV. When “Hobo Bob” finished mixing everything into the pot, it turned out to be pretty darn good. This was on Friday.
On Saturday for dinner “Hobo Bob” was at it again, cooking up some found food. Most of us dressed up for the occasion. It turned out to be quite a spectacle. “B&O Bob” won first place, “Trailer Trash Janet” won second place, and ”Boxcar Al” won third.
One of the highlights for the evening was when a skunk showed up for dinner, either that or it was attracted to “Trailer Trash Tosha.” She tried to shoo it away, but it hissed at her. At that point we were not sure if it was love or it wanted to finish dinner. At least the skunk didn’t show us its “best” side. That sure would have made the place smell different.
We all had a great time. The weather was beautiful and our Wagon Masters did an outstanding job of educating the group on the history of Hobo’s and its origination. It’s quite an interesting history.
Our next planned outing will be in Hemet CA at Golden Village Palms. This is our holiday outing.
The Wagon Masters will be Robert & RoseAnn Panico. Here is the contact info for anyone that would like to join us.
