Florida Sun Gators

Greetings to Everyone in the Gulf Stream International RV Club Family from the Florida Sun Gators!   We hope you are having an enjoyable summer whether you are spending it traveling, sightseeing, or visiting with friends and family.

Our April 2009 Reunion Rally was held at Pleasant Lake RV Resort in Bradenton, Florida hosted by Marty and Kathy Moser.   We were please to have had 17 member rigs present, 7 former members, and 2 guest couples.   Everyone had a good time visiting together for the weekend.  Activities included swimming, walking, biking, playing games, and of course eating.     

One of our longtime members, Doug Vollmer, lost his battle with cancer, and passed away April 15, 2009.   A memorial service was held April 23, 2009 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church,in Inverness, Florida with nine Florida Sun Gators attending.   In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Citrus County was made in Doug’s memory to be used for patients’ services.   Doug had been involved in many worthwhile activities during his life and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.  

Our May 2009 Rally was held at Sanlan Ranch in Lakeland, Florida, with Gary and Carol Fako, Sherwood and Kathleen Hall, and Merle Rae Schimke serving as the host committee.   We enjoyed a beautiful weekend filled with Florida sunshine, delicious food and fellowship, including an interesting wagon ride around the ranch.

Again, the Florida Sun Gators would like to invite any members of Gulf Stream International to visit with us at any of our rallies which are scheduled nine months out of the year (October through June). Anyone who would like to attend any of our rallies, should contact our secretary, Jenny Reetz, E-Mail:   jlr71@verizon.net or phone (727) 734-2183 for further rally information.   She can tell you who to contact for any specific month’s rally. We hope to see you there.

The June 12 th, 13 th , and 14 th rally will be at the Harbor Lakes Encore Park in Port Charlotte.   Contact Jenny for more information. As always we like to remind you that whenever you see any Florida Sun Gators in your travels, stop by and say, “Hello.”   We always enjoy meeting new Gulf Stream friends visiting Florida throughout the year.   “See you soon”.   Wally Gator continues to remind you to drive safely and remember to keep your tails clean.
