Illowa Gulf Streamers

Spring 2011 Illowa GulfStreamer Campout and Chapter Meeting

The Spring 2011 Campout was held at the Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Ia. on June 10,11,12.

Friday evening we had a potluck with ham, scalloped potatoes, meatballs, fruit salad, deviled eggs, zucchini bread, watermelon and angel food cake. After supper we had a rough game of pegs and jokers. Some people change the rules as the game progressed----or so it seemed to the newbies! Also there was quite a “Solitaire” game going on----but I won’t go into details except to say it took 4 of us to beat Solitaire!!!???

Saturday morning we tried something new---Omelets in a bag.   We had ham, bacon, mushrooms, red peppers, salsa, and cheese as our fixings. Everyone seemed to enjoy making their own omelet and we had some great helpers standing guard over the boiling pot.

After breakfast and   a good visit and catching up we were on our own to explore the Amana’s and do a little shopping. Some of us found some real deals on flowers and corn stalk lawn /garden decorations.

At 4 pm we all meet back at the RV Park and had our spring meeting.

The meeting was called to order by Pres. Mick Parker, V.P. Larry Frost led the Pledge of Allegiance.   Sec-Treas   Marty Parker read the fall 2010 meeting minutes and gave the Treas Report. Current balance is $356.80.   Both were approved as read.

We have 16 paid members for 2011, including new members Gary and Pat   Johnson from Fairfield IL and Myron and Susan VanHouweling of Prairie City Ia.

Other announcements

Irma Hoerr has a compression fracture of a vertebra and is taking water therapy and trying a Tens unit.

The Eftinks will be exploring Alaska this summer

The Frost’s motor home is “housebound” while their road is getting black-topped.

Former member Carl Siefken has cancer.

The Greenwoods had planned to come but weather and health issues kept them home.

Pending business

Discussion regarding our fall campout was held. The Palace Campground at Galena IL. does not have any shelter or pavilion, so it was decided to pursue the Springfield “ Land of Lincoln” area.   More information will be forthcoming.

There also was discussion about the status of the Gulf Streamers International and the general state of the economy. All are hoping to have another International Rally again.   Bonnie does such a fine job with them.

A short discussion about upcoming elections.   Both Mick and Larry are at the end of their 1 st terms.   Bylaws state that officers may be in office for 2 consecutive terms.   Marty is in her 2nd term as Sec Treas.

No other business. Cathie Conley moved to adjourn, Jan Frost seconded it.

Meeting adjourned @ 4:50.

Those camping were George and Helen Parsano, George and Frances Krause, Roger and Donna Stewart,   Mick and Marty Parker and guests and former members DeLos (JR) and Marilyn Cox .

Those joining us for shopping, meeting and supper were Larry and Jan Frost, and Pat and Cathie Conley. Supper was at 5pm at the Ronneberg Restaurant, which was very good. After supper we enjoyed visiting around the campfire back at the RV Park.
Sunday am we had a continental breakfast and said our goodbyes till fall.
