ILLOWA GULF STREAMERS
The Illowa Gulf Streamers met September 18, 19, and 20 at Deer Run Resort in Elkader IA. What wonderful facilities! We had only five rigs from our group and were sorry more werenot able to attend and enjoy the beautiful setting. Friday evening we enjoyed a tastypotluckand then visited around the campfire at DeLos and Marilyn Cox campsite.
Saturday morning everyone brought their own coffee or tea and enjoyed scrambled eggs, ham slices, and toast. After breakfast we all walked the Elkader River Walk (not as famous as San Antonio's but quite nice). After the walk, some went downtown for antique shopping, some went to George Maier Rural Heritage Museum, and some just enjoyed the peace and quiet at their campsite. The George Maier Museum was quite an interesting place. George is 91 years young and was there to answer any questions and embellish his informational cards by the various displays "by George." He made the place come to life!
Saturday evening we had a buffet supper at Johnson's Restaurant and then had the chapter meeting back at the campsite. We want to thank Pat Conley for his leadership during his term as president.
Here are the new officers:
Mick Parker #16394 President
Larry Frost #11185 Vice President
Marty Parker #16394 Continuing as Secretary-Treasurer
A lengthy discussion followed regarding our spring rally. The dates were to be June 11-13; due to the close proximity of the Back Home in Indiana Rally, however, we decided to change our dates to June 16-18 and make our rally an "En route to Back Home in Indiana Pre-Rally." We will have it at the Galesburg East Campground, 1081 U.S. HWY 150, E. Knoxville IL 61448 with phone 309-289-2267. Anyone heading for Indiana is welcome to join us.
Sunday morning we had donuts and rolls and a short prayer service led by Pat Conley.
Hope to see you in the spring at our "En route to Back Home in Indiana Pre-Rally from June 16 to June 18.
Safe Travels to All,
Marty Parker Sec-Treas., Illowa Chapter
