Hurray to the KyOhWeVa parking crew for once again doing an outstanding job at the BHR.  A special thank you for all the work Ralph Gordon does every year getting our chapter organized and operational.  We couldn’t do it without him.  In fact, Ralph has agreed to do it again next year.

There were 11 coaches from KyOhWeVa attending the rally this year.  This is the first year the Lewis’ missed a rally and it didn’t seem the same without them. It was a great time and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  The rally was cut short by two days this year.  Don’t think anyone noticed as there was so much crammed into the time we did have.  I for one had to come home to rest.

Congratulations go out to Kevin and Cindy Lewis winners of our chapter “Exceptional Service Award” presented by Gulf Stream at the rally.  We are so proud of them.

Also congratulations to Virginia Raikes for being a winner with her fruit dip recipe for the Gulf Streamer.  Look elsewhere in the Streamer for the recipe.

July 24 - 27 was the Wapakoneta rally with host Ralph and Carolyn Gordon.  We were also visited by Kay and Bob Combs of the Cardinals chapter and Les and Jean Potteigers.  As always, it’s nice to have visitors to join in the fun.

Many enjoyed such adventures as the Bicycle Museum in New Bremen, OH followed by lunch and a walking tour of the town.  Saturday many visited the Neal Armstrong Space Museum, while others visited local festivals and floated in cars on the water.  There was more to see and do than time allowed.  One of the many benefits of being a KyOhWeVa member is going to new places and experiencing the many different attractions.

The weather was perfect the entire weekend which permitted a lot of sitting around and visiting while snacking or indulging on a dessert.   Jack and Pat Wallace shared their propane fire pit for those nice summer evening visits.  We all enjoyed the feeling of a campfire without the heat of one.

Our next rally is scheduled for September 18 - 21 at Canaan Valley, WV, at which time new officers for the coming year will be elected.   This rally will be hosted by Bob and Thelma Hoffman and Larry and Carol Parker.  Those that have been to the valley in the past assure us we will bask in the beauty of the area.  Since we always have a wonderful time when we are together, this should be no exception.  Unfortunately, this will also conclude the camping season of 2008 for KyOhWeVa.

At this time a spring rally is scheduled for Renfro Valley, KY in 2009 as the first gathering of the season.  Renfro Valley seems to be a favorite for our members.

The dates are tentatively April 29 - May 2.  More information on this will follow in the next newsletter.

The dog days of summer are about to be upon us, so stay cool, go RVing and enjoy the season.
