MID-ATLANTIC STREAMERS

On June 19 th-21 st we had our second rally at Fox Den Campground, New Stanton PA.  We had nine rigs, and on this rally many members were going in different directions on vacation after the rally.  The weather was rainy and hard to plan a sight-seeing tour . . . so a lot of members stayed at the campsite or went to the local Wal-Mart. In the evening, we all gathered around the campfire. Joe & Barbara McBride and Mike & Ginny Jock hosted our potluck dinner with tacos and lots of different sides. The group went to Cracker Barrel for dinner on Friday night.

At our business meeting, we discussed rallies for 2010 and co-hosts, including Back Home in Indiana Rally, which is scheduled June 21-27.

Ginny Jock talked about updating our membership directory with pictures of members for 2010.

Les Potteiger, our wagon master for Gulf Stream International Club, talked about the Buddy Rally, which will be held at the Tampa Fairgrounds, on 11-17 January 2010.

Our September rally was held at Homestead Campground, Georgetown, Delaware, on 11-13th.  We had nine rigs (seventeen adults and two children).

We had a very rainy and windy weekend, but we all managed to go to the local restaurants, a little tour of Historic Lewes, and shopping.

New members, Alex & Danielle Mendoza, saved our campfire that rainy night by moving the fire ring to Bob Ware’s site, and Bob put his big awning out for everyone for shelter and eat dessert. Connie & Randy Camp and Dino & Myrna Vidos hosted our potluck dinner in the recreation hall with pork and chicken tortillas with lots of dessert for the sweet tooth members.

Dino Vidos, Vice President, filled in for Mike Jock, our President, since he was on vacation out West. Shirley Erb announced her official engagement to Bob Ware on September 11. PW Ward, a member of our club, said he would give a tour of Antietam Battlefield at the September 2010 rally in Williamsport MD.

Several get well cards were circulated to the members to sign for the sick members who couldn’t come to rallies this year.

Our October rally was held at Rockahock Campground, in Lanexa VA on 9-11 th.  We had nine rigs; unfortunately, Bob Coyner had a fall and had to have surgery on his shoulder.

Rodney & Karin Corwin and Pearce & Rita Grove hosted our Oktoberfest.  Karin went all out to decorate the pavilion with German costumes, beer steins, table clothes, and napkins from Germany . . . to set the stage for a delicious meal of pork, brats, German potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage . . . and side dishes and German music and lots of desserts in our pavilion.

Early arrivals took a water taxi to the Blue Heron Restaurant, overlooking the Chickahominy River, for another delicious meal.  The group played a horse racing game and cards in the evening.

Johnnie Humphrey came to visit the group on Saturday evening and joined us for another delicious dinner at the Wild Hogs Smokehouse Restaurant.

Our rally schedule for 2010 is as follows:

May 14-16 Outer Banks Cape Hatteras –

Ray & Theda Massie
