The Cardinal Gulf Streamers met at the beautiful Shelby/Mansfield KOA Oct. 1 through 4 for their fall rally. Our hosts, E. J. Ferguson, Ron & Mary Psota, and Ron & Candy Belanga, planned a fun-filled weekend of sightseeing and, of course, good food! We had 30 members in attendance with 8 new chapter members, Kay & Jim Garrett, Bill & Joan Gallagher, Len & Sandy Stayton, and Ruth & Chuck Gardner, which we were happy to welcome to the Cardinal family.
Thursday evening our hosts treated us to pizza, salad, cookies as well as a yummy watermelon supplied by Pat & Kathy Grego. Afterwards, we were all sufficiently stuffed. There were games and time to catch up with old and new friends.
Friday found us dodging raindrops as we headed to Bucyrus to visit the D. Picking Company; they still make hand-hammered copper kettles. Then we were off to the Harvey School, a one-room school. After school was out, we all met for lunch at Gus’s. After lunch we met a guide for the story of the Eric Grohe Murals and then rounded out our day with a stop at Cooper’s Mill to learn how to make apple butter. Dinner was catered by the campground staff and served in their beautiful banquet hall. A business meeting and the election of new officers followed dinner. Members played cards and socialized after dinner.
Following a catered breakfast on Saturday, it was free time for members to explore Mansfield on their own or just enjoy the campground. That evening we all met for dinner at the Varsity Club in Willard and then returned to the campground for BINGO and other card games.
Sunday morning, which arrived too soon, was a continental breakfast hosted by ladies. Then it was time to say our goodbyes until next spring.
Our Spring Rally will be held April 29 th - May 2nd at the Shelby/Mansfield KOA where we will be celebrating our 20 th Anniversary. Our hosts will be Kay & Jim Garrett and Ron & Mary Psota. For more information regarding our spring rally or our chapter, please go to www.rvcardinals.webs.com
